Session, Council was advised of the extensive work
that has been undertaken over the last six months
to assess the feasibility of a regional business
incubator facility in Louisville. The Mayor and
he had submitted requests to the Department of
Local Affairs for assistance in completing this
feasibility study. Primarily because of the
unique focus of this project and the quality of
the work that has Y>een done to date, the Depart-
ment of Local Affairs has indicated a willingness
to provide $15,000 to complete this study.
Hundley recommended approval of the contract
between the State I>epartment of Local Affairs and
the City of Louisville regarding the business
incubator feasibility study. Also, he recommended
approval of the agreement between the City of
Louisville and Dianne Shanks for the completion of
the scope of services.
Hundley explained t;hat the City of Louisville is
responsible for the completion of the project
called for in the scope of services with the
State. An outline of the scope of services is
being performed as a requirement for Dianne Shanks
to complete. The City will be monitoring before
making payment the completion of certain phases of
that project to ensure a document is produced as
specified in the contract between the City and the
State.
Sackett congratulated Mohr as he has put a lot of
work into the Futures Conferences and this
incubator project i.s one that he and Ms. Shanks
worked on "and I think it is a tremendous thing to
have people like tYiat in Louisville who are doing
their best to provide incentives for young
companies to move -to Louisville. Thats been one
of the goals of Council from the very beginning
and I think Mike dE~serves a lot credit for doing
his homework. I tYiink this is a super project."
Mayor Fauson concurred and moved that the contract
between the State Department of Local Affairs and
the City of Louisville regarding the business
incubator feasibility study be approved.
Szymanski seconded., Unanimous.
Mayor Fauson moved that the agreement between the
City of Louisville and Dianne Shanks for the
completion of the scope of services be approved.
Szymanski seconded., Unanimous.
(Mohr rejoined the meeting.)
5
