discourage other high tech firms from locating in
Centennial Valley. The proposed amendments would
recognize the changing nature of high tech busi-
ness operations by specifically allowing a manu-
facturing component: for scientific and technical
products as well asc the firm's offices and their
research and development functions. Although this
can now be approved by the PUD process, staff
feels it unnecessary and an issue that would sur-
face again as the City recruits high tech firms.
Staff recommends tYiat the Ordinance be approved
and a public hearing set for these proposed
amendments.
Anderson stated that it was very clear to him that
today's commercial/industrial society is now
involving the need for a potential zone classifi-
cation that does not exist currently and which the
high tech or bio tech would need due for assembly
and manufacturing on site. Anderson stated that
this an appropriate amendment to attract this type
of industry to Louisville.
Mohr moved that Ordinance #925 be placed out for
publication and a public hearing set for February
17, 1987. Scarpella seconded. Unanimous.
DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - LOUISVILLE
WATER TANK Hundley explained that in December 1986, Council
discussed with staff the construction of an
elevated storage tank at the City owned Howard
Berry site just south of U.S. 36. One of
Council's goals was to ensure an adequate supply
for the City of Louiisville's residents and
business firms. Staff, with the assistance of
consulting engineers, have been exploring both the
elevated water tank: and alternative storage tank
designs with a goal of developing the most cost
effective alternative to meet the City's treated
water storage needs;. Public Works Director, Tom
Phare, identified the possibility of an at-grade
storage tank located on land sufficiently high
enough to accomplish the same purpose as an
elevated storage tank. Hundley stated that Phare
will present the alternatives for Council discus-
sion and direction on how to proceed on this
important issue.
Phare showed three sites identified as being high
enough for an at-grade tank. According to Phare,
the best site is located south of Marshall Lake
and south of Marshall Landfill and is located
close to a public right-of-way to provide ready
access for pipeline that would be installed to
connect into the distribution system.
