meeting. Mayor Meier so moved, it was
seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENTS None.
RAY BATA - LIQUOR It was determined that the application was in
LICENSE APPLICATION order. Meier moved and Fauson seconded that the
public hearing be set for February 5, 1985.
It was determined that this was a new license under
new ownership, not an additional license as it is
illegal under state law for one individual to
have two liquor licenses. Motion carried unani-
mously.
PROPOSED BUDGET Hundley discussed the memo concerning proposed
REDUCTIONS budget reductions for 1985 in the amount of
$271,170.00. In discussions, it was determined
that the additional police position would not be
filled until 1986. Services in Community Services
and public works departments were concerns of
council. Hundley maintained that, after lengthy
discussions with all department heads, that 1985
service levels would not be reduced from 1984
levels.
Hundley proposed that council authorize the
preparation of a resolution amending the 1985
budget with this resolution showing proposed line
item budget reductions. Documents prepared
for discussion this evening described general
areas of cuts and their respective impacts.
Hundley pointed out the proposed reductions will
make up for the anticipated, yet unrealized,
carry over of 1984 funds, and the $62,000-
$87,000 anticipated short fall in 1984 revenues.
Hundley felt it would be prudent to
make cuts based o~n earlier figures showing a
greater deficit thus allowing more flexibility
in 1985 should problems arise. These figures
would also allow for the payback to the Tree Fund
in 1985. Fauson moved that Mayor and Council
consider a cutback in their salaries. The motion
was seconded a.nd discussions determined that
council felt their small wage was justified and the
cut would not affect the budget enough to warrant
approval of Fauson's proposal. It was also
determined that the council's wages are set by
ordinance and could not be increased nor decreased
within a councilperson's term of office.
2
