COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS <br /> NOT ON THE AGENDA <br /> <br />Keany invited all business people in Louisville to the Library open <br />house from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. <br /> <br />Mayer spoke of the sadness felt by everyone over the death of the <br />Boulder Police Officer. He asked that an appropriate gesture be <br />made to the Police Officer's family. He commented about the <br />outstanding police force in Louisville and how much they are <br />appreciated. <br /> <br />Bruce Goodman, Chief of Police, commented that flowers had been <br />sent to the family and they were accepting checks for donations to <br />the Beth Haynes Memorial Fund. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - SENIOR CENTER MONTH, MAY 1994 <br /> <br />Davidson read and presented the Senior Center Month Proclamation to <br />Bill Knowles, Chairman, Louisville Senior Center. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION OF OPERATION BUCKLE DOWN AWARD BY MR. DUKE SMITH, <br />STATE COORDINATOR, TO THE LOUISVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Duke Smith, State Coordinator for Operation Buckle Down, stated <br />that in 1992 nationwide seatbelt usage rate was 62%. Governor <br />Romer has set a goal of 75% usage in 1995. He stated that the City <br />of Louisville is the first city to be recognized by the National <br />Highway Traffic Safety Administration for obtaining a 75% usage <br />rate. He presented the Silver Buckle Award to Louisville Police <br />Chief Bruce Goodman. Also, Officer Jim Phillips was presented with <br />an award, an engraved silver pen and pencil set, for excelling in <br />the promotion of Operation Buckle Down. <br /> <br />TREE CITY U.S.A. AWARD PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Craig Jones, Colorado State Forest Service, and Smoky the Bear, <br />were at the meeting to present the Tree City U.S.A. Award to the <br />City of Louisville. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - LETTER OF INTENT TO ANNEX - MRS. CHRIS <br />WECKER REPRESENTING THE WAREMBOURG PROPERTY <br /> <br />Chris Wecker, Klubert Warembourg's daughter, 442 So. ll2th, <br />Lafayette, Colorado, was representing her father in annexing 92 <br />acres at 1023 So. 90th into Louisville. She explained that the <br />City has an interest in purchasing 50 acres and the remaining 42 <br />acres will remain in Klubert Warembourg's possession. They <br />requested an emergency annexation to shorten the appeal process to <br />meet the day of closing and that the 42 acres remain zoned <br /> <br /> <br />
