City of Louisville Employee Survey
July 2008
Department Communications and Policies
Ten questions gauged the "work climate and policies"aspect of employees'experience at the City.
Employees gave an overall average rating of 61 to this dimension (which is slightly below
"somewhat"agree). Overall,a majority of employees agreed with the statements that made up this
dimension of the employee experience.
Nearly 9 out of 10 respondents (88%) agreed that their department was serious about maintaining a
work environment free of violence, drugs, alcohol and harassment. Employees also felt that their
department communicated and modeled high standards of ethical behavior to its employees (73%
agreed),their department did a good job of communicating relevant information in a timely manner
(71%) and that the leaders of their department were committed to using the strengths of diversity to
achieve operational effectiveness (69%). (See the chart on the following page.)
Just over half of employees disagreed that discipline was fair and applied consistently to all
employees. Responses to this question were split relatively equally among each of the response
options (see Appendix A:Results Tables for more information.)
V
C
C
N
1
O
•a
z
0
N
DRAFT Report of Results
16
