Davidson:

The City purchased the Aquarius
property in total. Lafayette is
talking about contributing something
less than half, with the County
chipping in something more than
half. Still, I'm waiting for
Lafayette to acquire an equivalent
amount of land and I don't see them
doing that. It still seems to me
that they're looking at this from a
very one sided position and they're
not willing to meet us half way down
the road.

Mayer:

I would like to reiterate that I
feel the County could be more forth-
coming towards Louisville in terms
of its contributions towards open
space. You look at all the open
space the County has bought and
Louisville has bought its own open
space and I haven't seen the County
going in with us.

Howard:

I think that is something we need to
take up with our representative in
the County, Sandy Hume. He is
supposed to represent us and we need
to make our requirements, needs, and
desires known.

Sisk moved that Council direct Annette Brand to continue
discussions with the City of Lafayette and Boulder County with
regard to the Lastoka/Harney property, understanding that those
negotiations will not be finalized in any way, shape, or form and
any decision that would be made would have to be put to the vote of
the people of the City of Louisville.

Howard asked for a friendly amendment to direct staff to contact
the County Commissioner, specifically, in regard to equity and the
open space acquisition question. Sisk agreed, seconded by Howard.
Roll call was taken. Motion passed 7-0.

DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - CLOSURE OF CITY FACILITIES FOR MARTIN LUTHER
KING, JR.'S BIRTHDAY

Brand explained that this was brought up at the last Council
Meeting. Bill Blankenship, Human Resources Officer, contacted
other cities and counties in our area to ask what they do for
Martin Luther King's birthday and Colorado Day. Brand asked if
Council wants City Hall closed on Martin Luther King's birthday?

11
