We need to understand where we are now so we can understand where we have to get to in terms of a goal for economical development. Davidson called for Council comments or questions. Lathrop: Sisk: Davidson: I think this has been a good faith effort and progress is being made. I look forward to working with the Chamber and with other groups in the City to make this the kind of City that attracts all of us. I want everyone to know that I am not against the Chamber. Lathrop moved that Council designate the City of Louisville as the Economic Development Agent to receive funds from the County and that the City Attorney draw up an agreement, acceptable to the County, to receive those funds and that the Economic Development Committee of the City continue discussions with the Chamber of Commerce on their needs for funding from the City for community activities, business enhancement, and economic development activities, seconded by Mayer. All in favor. Howard asked Council to make a motion to designate staff to get all information necessary to define the economic requirements of the City of Louisville at build-out, including the necessary decreases in staff as well as the ongoing monies and present it to the Economic Development Committee, seconded by Hornbostel. Davidson explained that there wasn't any need to have a resolution to direct staff. Brand threw in a word of caution that it's going to take a lot of time and in-depth analysis to get this and staff won't be able to get it for the Committee right away. Mayer: I think that the Economic Development Committee, the Chamber, the agencies of the City, and the Planning Commission should work together in a cooperative mode to make sure we're all on the same page.
