Dick Sprague, 537 Coventry Lane, Louisville, CO.

Sprague:

I'm speaking for the home owners
with property bordering on the
outlots. We are concerned about the
visual aesthetics posed by those
outlots in the current plan for
vegetation. I am professionally
able to talk about the issues before
the Council, since I am a
professional Environmental
Consultant with a Master's degree in
Crop and Soil Science, so I do know
quite a bit about vegetation. I
have been responsible for design or
management of privately owned
residential, resorts, and city park
irrigation and vegetation plans. I
have also been responsible for
Environmental Impact statements
addressing visual aesthetics. We
are concerned about the narrow
strips of land along the sidewalk.
We don't think it will look good
with dry land grasses next to
irrigated grasses. We think it's
going to give us a hodgepodge of
vegetation and probably a lot of
weed species. Also, there are seven
children with additional children on
Coventry and Fairfield that
currently use one or more of the
lots to play football or soccer in.
If we go to dry land grass and
children continue to use the area
for play, the dry land grasses will
not tolerate the traffic and
continued use of that vegetated
area. The dry land grass will die
out, because of being kept short and
trampled. We will end up with an
unattractive mix of bare land, dry
land grasses, and weeds. It ' s
important to remember that the Golf
Course is directly adjacent to these
outlots. We believe that this
proposal presents a win/win solution
for the City and the home owners.
We request that the City Council
overturn the Planning Commission
recommendation.

11
