Sisk:

Nelson:

Sisk:

Nelson:

right now is only a temporary one.
It's not ideal from a standpoint of
response time. I don't feel that
being located across from a Middle
School is appropriate place for an
ambulance station. We have not
negotiated on this at all. We're
just trying to move it into the
realm of feasibility. From our
standpoint we really would prefer
not to have any ownership or equity
position or anything like this. Our
intent would be to look at a lease
and to have a lease arrangement that
matched the period of our contract.
It's in the interest of the
community to have this facility.
Regardless of who is occupying it,
the facility is necessary and it's
an ideal, safe location to have.

You're suggesting that if the
facility is not approved, A-1
Ambulance might not be in a position
to go elsewhere and build a facility
of equal nature?

Yes. Our concern is that we need a
facility that's in a good location
from a response time view point. We
would have to settle for a less
ideal spot and the concern is that
we need a structure that can house
crews, and the ambulance, and be in
a place that won't be disruptive in
the neighborhood. The combination
of all of those things really
constrains the options that we've
got.

What are the advantages to the City
in doing this? What are the
advantages to the citizens given the
fact that you're asking for what is
quasi-public property to be donated
to you? I assume you're private
enterprise.

I don't imagine anybody's going to
donate anything. We'll simply use
that space for a fee.

6
