Policy NE-4.1 (ex 4.2): The City will strongly enforce laws that prohibit the <br />pollution of waterways. <br />Policy NE-4.2 (ex 4.1 ): The City will require developments to incorporate <br />Stormwater Best Management (Practices. <br />Principle NE-5: Protect and enhancf: air quality. <br />Policy NE-5.1: The City will continue to reduce air pollutants and <br />greenhouse gas emissions generated by its municipal operations. <br />Policy NE-5.2: The City will develop partnerships with local jurisdictions, the <br />state, and public, private, not--for-profit groups to promote programs and <br />policies that reduce emissions of ozone, particulates, greenhouse gases, <br />and other pollutants. <br />Principle NE-6: Promote and implement waste-reduction and recycling <br />programs. <br />Policy NE-6.1: The City will work with governmental, private and not-for- <br />profit agencies to develop regional approaches to solid waste reduction and <br />management. <br />Policy NE-6.2: The City will develop accounting methods to track the <br />amount of waste directed to the landfill versus that directed to the Boulder <br />County Recycling Facility and ether recycling/composting facilities. <br />Policy NE-6.3: Once a baseline is determined through the afore-mentioned <br />accounting methods, specific t~-rgets for the percentage of solid waste to be <br />recycled from residences and businesses will be set by the City. <br />Policy NE-6.4: The City will ccntinue its efforts to reduce waste generation <br />from its municipal operations and explore methods for additional reduction <br />through internal audits and othE~r methods. The City will choose to purchase <br />supplies with recycled content ~Nhen feasible. <br />Policy NE-6.5: In its own operations, the City will consider the environmental <br />and economic costs, risks, benefits, and impact from alife-cycle perspective <br />when making planning, contracting, purchasing, and operating decisions. <br />Policy NE-6.6: The City will conntinue to promote public education related to <br />the value, methods and techiniques of recycling, resource recovery and <br />waste reduction. <br />
