Grading
Final grading of areas that are irrigable cropland is of particular importance. The overall grade of
land to be irrigated must provide for uniform coverage by flood irrigation.
3.0 Topsoil Redistribution, Application of Amendments
Following backfilling and grading, the Grantee shall redistribute the salvaged topsoil uniformly
over the disturbed area using front end loaders to minimize compaction of soil. The Grantee
shall not perform topsoil redistribution under moist soil conditions. If topsoil is
contaminated, compacted or otherwise improperly handled according to the Primary Contact, the
Grantee shall amend the topsoil with composted manure at a rate of 3 cubic yards per 1000
square feet of disturbed area. Composted manure shall consist of at least 40 % organic matter,
with a pH not to exceed 7.5, and soluble salts not greater than 10 Mmhos/cm. The Grantee shall
incorporate composted manure evenly throughout the topsoil.
The Grantee shall apply fertilizer at the rate of 120 lbs. available phosphorus per acre over all
disturbed areas. The fertilizer should be incorporated into the soil at a depth not to exceed 4
inches and should be performed during the seedbed preparation phase of reclamation.
4.0 Seedbed Preparation, Seeding, Mulching, Weed and Erosion Control and Reseeding
The Grantee shall reclaim all areas Grantee disturbs and shall ensure that reclamation and weed
control are effective for two full growing seasons following reclamation.
Seedbed Preparation
Following redistribution of topsoil and application of compost, the Grantee shall chisel the
disturbed and compacted areas again to a minimum depth of 10 inches, with no more than a 10
inch interval between chiseled furrows.
Cropland
On cropland, final grading and seedbed preparation will be performed by the agricultural
tenant on the Property. The Grantee shall reimburse the tenant at a rate of $80.00 / hour to
cover equipment and the Grantee's time. Grantee will provide seed to be planted by
agricultural tenant according to specifications provided by the Primary Contact.
Reimbursement shall be made upon presentation of an invoice to the Grantee by the
agricultural tenant.
Non -Crop land
On disturbed areas that are not cropland, the Grantee shall also perform additional seedbed
preparation such as discing, harrowing and/or firming operations to reduce soil clods that are
greater than 4" in diameter, and to provide a seedbed that is firm and friable.
Seeding
Callahan Open Space Access and Utility Easement
18
