City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 5, 2017 <br />Page 9 of 18 <br />Council member Loo addressed width of letters and background contrast and <br />commented skinny font did not work, was not readable. <br />Council member Keany noted font make a big difference in readability. If this was going <br />to be the standard, he wanted it done right the first time He did not find the tower on <br />the sign appealing and the street name on the bottom was illegible and there was no <br />need for it. Larger, thicker font was what he suggested <br />Council member Maloney agreed the mock up was too hard to read. He wondered if the <br />sign could just say Louisville <br />Council member Loo noticed traveling through other towns, the standard green signs <br />were effective and 'readable She suggested dropping back to something that works <br />and has for decades <br />Council member Stolzmann suggested giving staff direction to re -design to a simpler <br />sign with bigger letters and bring it back to Council <br />Mayor Muckle liked the tower and wanted the sign more legible He asked if Council <br />had an option they would like staff to work on in addition to bringing back a re -design of <br />the sign <br />Mayor Muckle moved Council approve Option 4 for the wayfinding with the <br />understanding the sign design will be brought back to Council for final approval <br />Council member Loo seconded <br />Council member Stolzmann asked if more funds were going to be needed Director <br />Zuccaro said more funds would be needed to work with the design or fabricating teams. <br />Council member Stolzmann said she would rather eliminate scope of project than <br />increase budget <br />Mayor Pro Tem Lipton agreed on eliminating the road name at the bottom of the sign <br />which could save money. He asked to add that as a friendly amendment to the motion <br />Mayor Muckle agreed and noted the scope could be reduced by a sign to fund Option 4. <br />Debbie Fahey, 1118 W Enclave Circle agreed the mockup sign was unreadable and <br />noted coming off of US36 the sign needed to be farther to north <br />Restated the Motion included. approve Option 4, bnng back the sign re -design for <br />Council approval, eliminate the street name at the bottom of the sign, reduce scope by <br />one sign <br />Vote All in favor <br />
