Louisville City Council Meeting <br />January 20, 2004 <br />Page 9 of 11 <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk called for City Attorney introduction. <br /> <br />City Attorney Sam Light read Ordinance No. 1439, Series 2004. <br /> <br />MOTION: Mayor Sisk moved that Council send Ordinance No. 1439, Series 2004 out <br />for publication and set a public hearing for February 3, 2004, seconded by Council <br />member Levihn. All in favor. Absent: Council member Brown. <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons reported on the Entry-Way Signs, and noted they are <br />included in the Capital budget. He estimated a cost for monument signs to be <br />approximately $35,000. He stated Staff has investigated more economical signage and <br />reported on recycled plastic signs. The signs could be multi-colored, require very low <br />maintenance and would cost approximately $12,000 for the entryways into Louisville. <br /> <br />Council discussion: Mayor Pro Tem Keany voiced his support of the signs. Mayor Sisk <br />suggested the newly appointed Business Retention & Development Committee review <br />this matter and make recommendation to the Council. There was Council consensus. <br /> <br />Simmons reported on Main Street Banners, with special events poles for Main Street. He <br />estimated the cost between $5,000 and $7,000. He would discuss this matter with the <br />Downtown Business Association. He also reported on the proposal for a decorative street <br />clock for the downtown area. He stated the range for a clock is from $7,000 and $35,000. <br />He would also discuss this with the Downtown Business Association. Mayor Sisk <br />suggested discussions with the Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />Simmons reported on the downtown trees, which have died as a result of the drought or <br />vandalism. He stated the trees would be replaced this spring. He reported on the request <br />for a restroom at Louisville Cemetery. He stated the estimated cost for portable facility, <br />with concrete pad, shelter and landscaping, would be approximately $20,000, with a <br />monthly maintenance cost of $120.00. He noted this was not budgeted for 2004. <br /> <br />Council discussion: Mayor Sisk suggested this matter be reviewed as a budget item for <br />2005. Mayor Pro Tem Keany suggested the Department of Land Management advise the <br />public there are no restroom facilities at the cemetery. <br /> <br />Simmons reported on the Louisville Cemetery fees and price structure. He explained the <br />cemetery contains full plots, and none have been subdivided into infant plots. He stated <br />some cemeteries have a different price for an infant or child plots, and some are at no <br /> <br /> <br />
