City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 4, 2008 <br />Page 5 of 9 <br />David Waldman, 1871 Continental View Estates, Louisville, CO stated he would <br />like to see Boulder Valley School District preserve the facade, but he did not vote <br />for a bond issue to preserve t:he facade, but to educate children. He stated <br />Louisville tax dollars, staff tirrie, and elected official's time should not be wasted <br />on a property owned by another. He encouraged the City to start a preservation <br />fund and offered a check for ;100.00 to begin the fund. <br />Barb Hesson, 526 LaFarge Avenue, Louisville, CO explained she attended the <br />Louisville High School and noted if the school is demolished, it may lead to the <br />destruction of other historic downtown properties. She stated the School had to <br />be saved and requested Council's help. <br />Mike Koertje, 887 Welsh Court, Louisville, CO explained last week that twelve <br />Louisville residents spoke belfore the Board of Education. The Board of <br />Education totally disregarded the comments and voted to demolish the Louisville <br />Middle School historic fa~ade~. He stated the Board of Education must take some <br />ownership of this issue. He addressed Colorado State Statute 22-32-124, which <br />stipulates the School Board must submit a site development plan to the Planning <br />Commission or governing body prior to construction of any structure or building. <br />Susan Morris, 939 Maple Court, Louisville, CO stated the Louisville Middle <br />School is a symbol of downtown Louisville. She voiced her concern about the <br />School District's disregard for the citizens' of Louisville. She requested Council <br />support. <br />Annie Hughes, 1405 Garfield Court, Louisville, CO asked persons in the <br />audience who support the prE~servation of the Louisville Middle School to raise <br />their hands. Several hands rose. <br />Jean Morgan, 1131 Spruce Street, Louisville, CO stated she did a survey of <br />citizens on the Louisville Middle School's historic facade and over 88% of those <br />polled were in favor of its pre:senration. <br />Laurel Tofte, 1417 Courtesy Road, Louisville, CO stated many things associated <br />with the Louisville Middle Sct'iool are not educational, such as voting, public <br />theatre and non-school sports events. She considered the Louisville Middle <br />School a community building. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella voiced her concern that the school district is not <br />listening to the Louisville citizens. She asked if there was something the Mayor <br />and Council could do. <br />Mayor Sisk noted the City does not have any jurisdiction over the School District, <br />nor does the City have the money to pay for the preservation of the facade. He <br />
