City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 18, 2008 <br />Page 8 of 10 <br />Mayor Sisk noted this issue has not appeared on the School Board's agenda and <br />no decisions have been madE,, however many Louisville residents have spoken <br />at School Board meetings regarding preserving the historic facade. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />John Leary, 1116 LaFarge Avenue, Louisville, CO stated there weren't any <br />serious efforts made to save i:he facade, nor were there any cost estimates for <br />the preservation. He explained the decision to demolish the facade was based <br />on a $300,000 cost to move a sewer line. <br />Don Atwood, 298 S. Taft Court, Louisville, CO voiced his agreement with the <br />comments made by Mayor and City Council. <br />MOTION: Councilor Muckle moved to approve Resolution No. 12, Series 2008, <br />with the following amendments: 1) Sixth Whereas: "The City Council is of the <br />opinion that alternatives that include historic preservation should be further <br />analyzed and discussed by aind with the District Board, including further public <br />discussions." 2) Seventh WhE~reas: "while not seeking to delay the project." 3) <br />Page 2, Third recital; adding "after assessment and peer review has been taken, <br />without reducing the urgency of the construction project, the Board of Education <br />further evaluate." The motion was seconded by Councilor Yarnell. <br />Mayor Sisk offered a friendly amendment to the motion: "many of the voters' <br />were led to believe the historic significance of Louisville Middle School would be <br />retained." Councilor Muckle :>uggested "the City Council and many of the voters <br />were assured." Councilors Muckle and Yarnell accepted the amendments. <br />VOTE: All in favor. <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTIION/ACTION - 2008 UPDATE OF CITYWIDE <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br />City Manager Fleming explained at a study session, Council met with the <br />Planning Commission and di:>cussed the 2008 Citywide Comprehensive Plan <br />Update. Because no action can be taken at a study session, Staff requested <br />direction on the specific scope of work for updating the Comprehensive Plan. <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Mayor Sisk noted Council approved the additional consultants for the <br />comprehensive plan update. `~IVith respect to the scope of work, he referenced <br />"Community Character and Urban Design", #4, relative to ConocoPhillips, and <br />
