The City will investigate bicycle safe storage; conduct a city employee <br />survey on how best to incentive carpooling and other transit options for <br />employees. The City will investigate single trash hauler; and evaluate changes to <br />the City's building code for energy efficiency. The City will hire a facility manager <br />and will purchase an energy saving cover for the pool at the recreation center. <br />City Manager Fleming asked Council to give direction to Staff on whether Staff <br />should proceed with other re:>ource conservation activities. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Mark Persichetti, 1402 Taft Place, Louisville, CO representing the Louisville <br />Resource Conservation Advi:>ory Board (LRCAB) commended City Manager <br />Fleming for his list of goals. LRCAB strongly supports the implementation of the <br />single trash hauler and evaluating changes to the Louisville's building code to <br />adopt the Green Points program and offered their services in those project goals. <br />Eva Kosinski, 1301 Jackson Court, Louisville, CO stated there are issues with a <br />single trash hauler and the adoption of a Green Points program. She noted the <br />last time the City evaluated a single trash hauler there was resistance from the <br />residents and the trash haulers. She suggested a community workshop. <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br />Councilor Dalton commended City Manager Fleming for his list of goals. He <br />suggested giving incentives for building green in lieu of changing the codes. He <br />did not want to make necessary remodeling and upgrading houses too expensive <br />for residents. <br />Councilor Clabots applauded the work of LRCAB and City Manager Fleming. <br />He suggested monitoring idling City vehicles and putting timers on street lights. <br />Councilor Muckle suggested evaluating the types of vehicles the City purchases. <br />He also expressed his concern over changing building codes. <br />Councilor Yarnell requested rnore detail on changing the building code and <br />stressed the importance of advising the residents of the measures the City has <br />taken in resource conservation. <br />Mayor Sisk supported hiring a facilities manager and noted the budget included <br />energy efficient measures such as the cover for the pool at the recreation center. <br />He addressed the single trash hauler, and stated there have been more <br />advances since this subject wras last discussed and stressed the importance of <br />public involvement. With respect to green building, he suggested the City <br />observe what other communiiries are doing. He stated the City has opportunities <br />to run their own PV Systems, and voiced his support for wind power. <br />
