City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 1, 2008 <br />Page 10 of 11 <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Michael Menaker, 1827 Choke Cherry Drive, Louisville, CO expressed his thanks <br />Councilors Muckle and Dalton for their work on the ballot language. He stressed <br />there are many buildings in downto~nrn, which are not eligible for historic <br />preservation. He supported including funding staff/project time. He agreed <br />incentives for new construction is inappropriate and opposed incentives for the <br />Miner's Field area. He felt the language should be clarified to explain a <br />preservation easement and landmarking. He urged Council to take the time to <br />establish the appropriate ballot language and suggested not deferring the tax <br />issue for next year. He encouraged government and citizen groups to support <br />the sales tax question and get the information out to the voters. He suggested <br />the Task Force or Advisory Board members be given terms of office. <br />John Leary, 1116 LaFarge Avenue, Louisville, CO addressed the Emergency <br />Ordinance option and stated the intent is for health, safety and welfare issues. <br />He noted the ballot language is as binding as an ordinance and suggested <br />Council concentrate on the ballot language. He addressed the Task Force and <br />recommended the members be macle up of people who have expertise in historic <br />preservation, architecture and the alts. <br />City Attorney Light advised Council lrhey could direct Staff to set the ordinance <br />aside and concentrate on a resolution and continue the ordinance until after the <br />election.
