The ballot language must be finalized by September Stn
for submission to the County Clerk for inclusion on the ballot. The City Council
will continue to work on the coordinating ordinance dedicating how the funds
could be used in August.
Mayor Sisk requested public comment. There were no comments.
Mayor Sisk voiced his support of the ballot issue, but reminded Council the City
Clerk estimates the cost of the election will cost about $30,000.00, which is twice
what is budgeted, if not more. City Clerk Nancy Varra confirmed the 2008
coordinated election is a polling place election and the City will be required to pay
for election judges. Additionally, the ballot question is a TABOR issue, which
increases the printing costs.
Mayor Sisk requested public comment. There were no comments.
MOTION: Councilor Ron Sackett moved to approve Resolution No. 31, Series
2008, seconded by Councilor Dalton. Roll call vote was taken. The motion
carried by a vote of 7-0.
RESOLUTION No. 32, SERIES 2008 - A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN
AMENDMENT TO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE URBAN DRAINAGE AND
FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT FOR THE DRAINAGEWAY "G"
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation.
Public Works Director Tom Phare explained the City of Louisville and the Urban
Drainage and Flood Control District, (District) entered into an agreement in
December of 2005 to jointly fund a project to improve the drainage of
Drainageway "G". This project drains an area of approximately 1000 acres in the
southwest section of the City from west of the Goodhue Ditch and Dillon Road to
Boulder County Land Venture Open Space east of South 104th Street. The
improvements are being constructed under the City's Dillon Road Roadway
Reconstruction and Drainageway "G" improvements project. The previous three
agreements encumbered funds for updating the Drainageway "G" Outfall
Systems Plan as well as preliminary design work.
The City and the District have agreed to a 50% funding split for the Drainageway
"G" improvements. The City has contributed $486,000 for the improvements
under the three previous agreements. This Amendment of the Agreement will
require an additional contribution of $400,000 from the City, which will be used
for the final design and construction of the improvements. The City's total
funding obligation for the improvements is $886,000.
