6/18/84 Page -15-
Council was sending them a message saying
that we are open to doing that and he had
a problem with this. He did feel that there
were some benefits to the City and did not
feel they should be overlooked.
Councilman Luce Enquired if we had a typographical map
Typo Map available of this site.
Administrator Wurl stated we had one of the
reservoir site, but their contemplated road
would not be on it.
Councilman Luce asked Administrator Wurl
i:f he foresaw the need beyond the immediate
e:xpa nsion of the reservoir as planned and
discussed further expansion of the reser-
voir in the future.
He replied he didn't, but the thing that
concerned him was that when he replied in
this manner, there are going to be a few
more hundred years on earth after he leaves
and the technology may be that they would
consider utilizing additional portions for
rE~servoir expansion. He reitereated they
do not anticipate any further expansion.
Councilman Leary CommerYted his feeling on the compelling
benefit issue is essentially that our
open space plan is very critical to us,
and he didn't think making the trade-off
in terms of getting the reservoir land
free is giving us enough benefit to say
compelling benefit need does exist. He
reiterated that the money that is being
set aside to purchase the land is coming
from Developer fees, not from water fees
paid by citizens, or from tax dollars.
TYiis is just one of the difficult decisions
that Council is required to make based on
their sense of priority, and his was to
preserve this open space buffer in its
pure state.
RECESS Mayor Meier called a recess at 8:45 P.M.
while Director of Public Works Kasch looked
for the topo map requested by Councilman
Luce. In the meantime he was unable to
find it. Meeting reconvened at 8:55 P.M.
Councilman Luce requested that this map
bE: available at the next Council meeting.
Motion to Table Councilman Luce moved, Mayor Meier seconded
