6/'5/84 Page -21- <br />Mayor Meier and Councilman Leary did not <br />favor delaying the call for bids on the <br />pedestrian signals because of the time frame <br />of ordering the signals. Council could <br />discuss the location of the signal on <br />South Boulder Road before it is placed. <br />Mayor Meier also stated that parents should <br />educate their children that they can only <br />cross South Boulder Road -where the signal is. <br />Site for South Boulder Councilman Leary moved, Councilwoman Morris <br />Road pedestrian Signal seconded that the site for the pedestrian <br />Premature signal east of Washington St. was premature <br />at this time. - <br />Al1 in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />SUPERIOR INTERCHANGE SIGNAL Administrator Wurl stated that the State <br />REPORT hays gone back to pre-set time cycles until <br />the new loops can be reinstalled. They <br />hope for completion by Friday. They have <br />shortened all cycles to temporarily reduce <br />peak hour congestion. He further stated <br />that we had made recommendations and some <br />of them were being carried out in terms of <br />maintaining for longer periods of time the <br />people directing the traffic. He felt that <br />thE~ problem would be resolved when the loops <br />are completed. <br />Councilman Cussen As}tied what the time line for the completion <br />wa:~ - such as finishing the on and off ramps, <br />the restriping. He has seen where people <br />have gone through the barricades and many <br />near accidents. <br />Dix-ector Kasch stated that he felt the ramps <br />would be done within a week and he would <br />ash; the State for an updated schedule. <br />He also stated that a new plan is being re- <br />viE~wed on the striping and should be completed <br />soon. Mr. Kasch will get back to council <br />regarding the confusion of the right lane <br />tuY•n-off into the City. <br />C-470 REPORT Administrator Wurl stated as he mentioned <br />at the study session the Boulder County <br />Commissioners did consider this item on <br />May 29th and they voted to ask DRCOG to <br />study the issue. There will be a resolution <br />forthcoming. Also he had not heard from <br />DRC'.OG as to what their status is. When <br />this inofrmation is received, copies will <br />be provided to council. <br />
