6/5/84 Page -24-
Cable TV
Jicinsky's estimate was approximately
$1200 and he hadn't. heard from Dennis Co.
Mi-s. Morris asked how he would feel about
homeowners putting something together that
would meet his approval and placing them
iri the parks ?
Director Hioco stated if it would meet the
approval of the standards of the parks.
Hey would not want just a board nailed on
a 2 x 4. He would appreciate the residents
that are interested in doing this contact
hi.m and work out the details.
Councilwoman Morris stated that they had
a meeting with the Cable TV people and
councilmembers had a copy of the letter.
They discussed the possibility of who was
sponsoring what. But perhaps using just
one channel to begin with so that people
would know what channel to go to for pro-
gramming. It was generally felt by other
municipalities that has worked best for
them and Scripps-Howard concurred.
Relative to Cable Boards - many municipalities
get hung up in whose going to part of that
Board and consequently the programming gets
delayed. The feeling was at this point we
do have one citizen in particular, Ardyth
Sohn, who is very interested and has some
expertise in the field, in helping the com-
munity to coordinate the community access
end of things. Also, Mr. Randall, who
is currently in Longmont but will be at the
Louisville office to help to coordinate
the community access channel with those
community people. Council's role can be
very, very minimal, if at all. The role
th<~t was discussed as far as the City
aci=ivity was perhaps having someone on each
arE~a of our staff having training through
the Cable. Co. Also to encourage more people
to get involved. As part of the training
thE~y would have to come down and be one of
thE~ two people that would put on our council
meE.tings in addition to a 5-minute training
presentation that they would put together
separately. Also getting our base together
as far as programming itself. The Library
ha:> started putting together Story Hours.
There was also discussion about sharing
programming with other municipalities.
