Mayor Meier also requested <br />that= Councilwoman Morris do a tablulation <br />of ithe results and giave a copy to him and <br />councilmembers.. <br />SENATE BILL 194 - STATUS REPORT <br />Gouncilmembers had a copy of the latest <br />information on Senate Bill 194 received <br />from the Colorado Municipal League. <br />Administrator Wurl advised that the Senate <br />had passed another version that had reduced <br />the percentage of signatures required up from <br />5% to 8%. But the major change was per- <br />mitting the Council to put a provision in <br />the ordinance that would nullify any attempt <br />to take it to a vote. So if it passes in <br />that form then it is up to the individual <br />city councils as to whether the opportunity <br />for a vote of the people would be given. He <br />.felt that it would probably be adopted that <br />way but was not certain. The final step <br />would be at the Governor's Office and there <br />are: early indications that he would veto the <br />bill. <br />:ouncilman Luce Wi:~hed to encourage Council to send an addi- <br />Letter to Governor Lamm tional communication to the Governor's Office <br />indicating that we continue to hold our posi- <br />tion and furthermore with the emergency clause <br />that. we have even more serious reservations <br />about the Bill in the present form and would <br />urge a veto of it,and so moved. Councilwoman <br />Morris seconded the motion. Question called <br />fo:r. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />CABLE TV BOARD FORMATION Mrs. Trementozzi advised that they had done <br />Ann Trementozzi, Librarian more research about the formation of a Cable <br />TV Board and had provided a memo to Council. <br />It was her feeling, with the limited amount <br />of Boards functioning, that more work should <br />be done before the Board is formed. She <br />suggested persons to do this work be a member <br />from the Library Board, herself, 2 people from <br />Council, and Director Hioco, and that they <br />contact the Cable Co. to see what they have <br />in. mind as to Programming. Felt that their <br />support was needed. She would also like to <br />meet with the Longmont Cable Board to see how <br />it: works . <br />Councilman Woodson advised that there were <br />a number of people in the community that <br />have knowledge in this field - 2 in particular <br />wYiom he knew personally and would suggest <br />tYiat we solicit their participation in this <br />si~udy.
