4/17/84 Page -5-
Councilman Luce Inquired what criteria did R.T.D. use to
determine that they have enough ridership
to jlustify that additional incremental cost?
Mr. Grote stated they would have to determine
how many passengers were getting on from
Bou]_der versus how many are getting on here.
How many would they lose because of the
add~_tional travel time? How many would they
gain because of the improved service for
the people at this park and ride? These
must be determined and put that together
into a benefit type cost analysis. In the
future there may be local service coming from
McCaslin and Louisville that justify that
on :its own without the Boulder ridership.
Mr. Luce asked what is the process from this
point forward?
Mr. Grote's reply was they would be making
other presentations - Boulder County next
week to which the public is also invited.
Then they are putting together a grant package
and hope in the next couple months to get
it to the Board of Directors for their approval,
then the package would be presented to the
Urban Mass Transportation ' Administration and
if they approve it, it would be possibly
September or October when R.T.D. would get
the final design to start the project. They didn't expect any problems.
Councilman Luce summarized that in looking at
the criteria that R.T.D. uses for examining
several sites, he concurred with the site
picked and he was highly supportive of this
project and hopes things move forward rapidly.
Councilman Leary In reply to Councilman Leary's inquiry, Mr.
Grote stated the Broomfield Park and Ride
facility held 350-400 cars. This facility
would be equivalent to the first phase of
the Broomfield facility.
Mr. Leary asked what the fare would be?
Mr. Grote stated that he didn't know.
Councilman Leary wished to know the classi-
