1/17/84 Page -4-
Mr. Rupp apologized for his secretary making
the comment about the 2; acre site. Originally
22 acres was set aside for the Fire Department;
but the Fire District has indicated to us
thai~ they are not particularly interested
in i~he site and would like to work with
Homart in trying to find a better location.
bec<~use of the access. The total 5 acres
which has been provided to the City for
the City's purpose and the Housing Authority
has an interest in that. In answer to the
second question he stated HUD's involvement
cou:Ld require a change in the application.
The application would be specifically for
elderly housing. We are not trying to kid
anybody and the Housing Authority has in-
str~ucted him, if it is o.k. with City Council,
to ;pursue this elderly housing as they are
not interested in more family housing at this
time. If we make the application for elderly
and HUD would then come back and say they wanted
to change then we would have to come back
before the City Council and ask for that re-
quest. The other point is that applications
have been accepted well before the date of
January lst; however the latest information
we have from the State of Colorado indicates
that the applications will be accepted by
February lst, and he did want to have the
opportunity to visit with the new council
to discuss the application. As far as the
access - that could be a problem currently
but. in the future when we look at the long
range plan for the City's housing, we are
viewing providing scatter sites throughout
they whole project. We do have very limited
sites because of undermining situation and
not: all sites that are dedicated to the City
are: suitable for housing developments. This
site is a suitable site and in the years to
come when development occurs in the area
for. future shopping; access to recreational
facilities, etc. Plus the fact, the City
provides a van service to elderly to aid
thE,m in their transportation needs. There-
fore, felt that should resolve that particular
is:~ue .
