1/17/84
Page -7-
Question called for. All in favor. Motion
carried unanimously.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS None
CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT Councilmembers had a copy of the ordinance;
ORDINANCE #818 - MODEL Attorney Rautenstraus read it by title only on
ELEVATOR CODE - PUBLIC HEARING second reading and public hearing and certi-
fied proper publication.
Mayor Meier opened the public hearing and
Attorney Rautenstraus certified proper pub-
lic<~.tion of the public hearing notices.
Director John Rupp advised that Louisville
is one of the few cities in this part of
the Denver metropolitan area that is par-
ticipating in this program with DRCOC.
When. Rupp spoke with the Chief Building
Inspector, Steve Ferris, he indicated that
i.e. the City of Boulder was not able to get
everything completed or they would have been
involved with the program also. Did not know
why Broomfield, Longmont, or Lafayette were
not involved in the program. The City collects
the fees and then a portion of the feesgo to
DRCOG who pays the inspector. The inspection
is made once a year. DRCOG will have a licensed
person that will come and certify the elevator.
It is something that we can't do at the present
time.
Mayor Meier :inquired if this had been done
in i~he past, and if so was it done on a piece
meal basis? Would this bring in more of a
uni1Eorm type inspection for the area.
Rupp replied yes, they are trying to get a
morE~ uniform approach to it. The City of
Denver has their own inspector that is part
of ltheir staff. Since the inspection is only
done once a year to hire someone to do that
in ]Couisville for example, we have one elevator
in -the main part of town and the rest of them
are at STC. Therefore, he didn't think it
would be cost effective for Louisville to
hire such a person.
Public Hearing Continued Mayor Meier asked if there were any public
conunents for or against Ordinance #818. None
Any public questions? None
Council questions and comments.
