1/3/'84 Page -12-
MTV and Stereo to be In answer to one of ,the questions, Mr. Dagen-
added ais stated that MTV and stereo would be added
to :t:he FM service. sometime in the summer of
'84.. He also advised that people with VCR's
wou]_d be provided with an AB switch and they
wou]_d install it for them. The AB switch
enak~les them to come off the cable from the
wal]L into a spliter behind the set - one lead
runs to the converter which descrambles the
pici~ure and then into the VCR; thus enabling
the person to watch one thing and record another
at the same time.
Choice of 3 Premiums Not One of the women in the audience expressed
Available dis<~ppointment. that she was not able to choose
which 3 premiums she preferred for the Rainbow
pac]{age without paying the addtional charge,
i.e. wished to retain HBO, Cinemax, and the
Movie Channel rather than having HBO, Show-
time and one of her choice as offered in
the new premium packaging.
My :Lyons commented he felt the ones that were
kept, i.e. HBU and Showtime were the more popu-
lar ones based on subsribers' surveys. However,
Mr. Lyons stated that they would review this
for Louisville.
Councilman Cussen Commented that he felt a lot of the confusion
could have been avoided. We sat down in good
faith in negotiations, council had questions,
and he and Councilwoman Morris had an oppor-
tunity to talk to Mr. Romano and Mr. Callaghan
to try to explain a number of the complaints
that came up :in the audience this evening.
He didn't feel that they were taken serious
about the concerns. His fear was. that`a~te~.'irhis
public hearing, we are going right back to
they kinds of service we have been getting to
date. We have been told that we have a
State of the Art system and that maybe in the
near future. But he didn't think this was
so presently. Felt that we are putting the
cart before the horse; was concerned that people
wez-e being billed on the new rates before
receiving any information. This was discussed
prE~viously but it seems to still be forging
ahead. Unless all the people had been involved
in meetings such as he and Councilwoman Morris
thE,y would not know what is happening. It
would not be until someone came to their door
and yet they would still be billed under
the new rates. Questioned that we are being
