1/3/84 Page -14- <br />Mr. Lyons replied that the information fed <br />into the computer is available to only 2 <br />people that have the access code to get into <br />that. The 2-way system has not been activated. <br />It stakes another box to do that. Information <br />is not being received back from the terminal. <br />They didn't have the equipment to be interactive <br />and would not be able to monitor any viewing <br />of ;subscribers. <br />Free remote control In answer to another question Mr. Dagenais <br />for all Cable ready sets. stated that a free remote control would given <br />to anyone that had a cable ready set. <br />Mr. Vickery stated that he had two cable <br />ready sets, would he be given two converters <br />and two free remote controls. Mr. Dagenhais <br />stated they would give him two remote controls <br />but felt that he only needed one converter. <br />Mr. Stout stated that he had just purchased <br />a cable ready set and did not need a conveter <br />but it was his understanding that after to- <br />morrow when the channels were being scrambled <br />he would need one. Mr. Dagenais stated he <br />would. <br />A woman expressed concern that she would be <br />unable to get Channel 6, which she viewed <br />frequently and also donated money to. As <br />the company would be scrambling all channels <br />she would not be able to recieve Channel 6. <br />Mr. Lyons stated with the converter she would <br />be able to view this as it would desramble <br />it for her.if she wished to subcribe to the <br />basic service of Cable TV. If she did not <br />wish to subscribe she would receive Channel <br />6 a.s before. <br />Mayor Meier Stated that at this time the questions from <br />they audience would be terminated; a recess <br />will be taken and individuals can approach <br />thE~ representatives during the recess. <br />Councilwoman Morris Wi:~hed clarification that the public channels <br />2,4,7, and 9 as well as all the cable channels <br />would be scrambled as of tomorrow. <br />Mr.. Lyons advised this was so but with the con- <br />verter provided by the company the public <br />stations would be desrambled and could be <br />veiwed as well as all the cable channels if <br />she was a subscriber. <br />VCR Councilwoman Morris remarked if this was not <br />scrambled she could tape HBO this week and <br />
