Mayor Meier Advised the people in the audience that if their questions pertained to their personal equipment would request that they present these to the representatives at a later time. If .Lt was a general question, i.e. pricing, programming, etc. he would let them speak. One of the questions from the audience was how much would it cost to change the optional prernium services. Presently there is no cost to drop a service; there is a $10.00 cost to add a service. (Mr. Ferguson to address this question). In answer to another of the questions, Mr. Channel 29 WOR Dropped Dagenais advised that Channel 29 WOR would not be available. Explained this was a result of certain federal legislation interpretation of -the copyright law, every Cable Co. was allowed to carry, up until this summer, three. distance stations at a minimum copyright fee. Federal legislation changed that to carry only 2 a~t a mimimum copyright fee and the 3rd one now is very expensive. Didn't know the ration- ale of the FCC, felt that it was an encourage- menu for Cable systems to carry all of the local rather than sacrificing a local and carry- ing a distant. So of the 3 super stations, Atlanta, New York and Chicago Atlanta and Chicago were retained. This was done as a result of people calling into the office- it was decided that Atlanta would be kept for certain, and it was determined that more people watched WGN from Chicago versus WOR New York. In answer to the question if a subscriber would have a choice between the premiums HBO and 5howtime, Mr. Dagegnois stated not really. Because of the program guide situation the western feed is carried. He would check into this with the corporate people. Explained that the reason the local informa- tional channels were dropped were in prepar- ation for hooking up of the 48 channels to- morrow and they will/~~tailable tomorrow. Locks for R rated movies Locks for R rates movies were not available, however, anyone could call the office and request a particular channel be scrambled during certain hours, i.e. the Playboy Channel could be scrambled while the children are still awake .
