ZECESS <br />3ruce Rogers, President <br />Louisville Chamber of <br />o~^-~e rce <br />ZESOLUTION N0.32 - STATEWIDE <br />SOTTO GAME <br />3DOPTION <br />:ouncilman Leary <br />12/4/84 <br />Page -12- <br />Mayor Meier called a recess at 8:52 P.M. <br />Meeting reconvened at 9:08 P.M. <br />Mayor Meier stated the number that was dis•~9 <br />cussed relative to the downtown redevelop- <br />ment project, as far as their participation: <br />some of the members of the business com- <br />munity would like to meet this week with <br />their committee and try to work out a <br />workable percentage to present to their <br />peop:Le and to present to Council. He <br />recommended that the committee come back <br />with a definite percentage of participation <br />from the business community on this project <br />Councilman Leary comme nted that he felt th <br />figure discussed was $200,000, which was ~:. <br />4-1 :ratio of the money to be spent from th~~..::; <br />point on. <br />Councilman Luce concurred with Mr. Leary's <br />commcent . <br />Mr. Rogers stated he thought $200,000 was <br />a re<~sonable figure. The problem that the <br />task force is facing is that the number keeps <br />changing. He felt that it was incumbent upon <br />the business community to present to Council <br />what is acceptable to them. <br />Councilmembers had a copy of the resolution, <br />a memo from Director of Community Services <br />Hioco and pertinent information from the <br />StatEa Lottery Commission. <br />Attorney Rautenstrau-s the resoru~ionin -its <br />entirety. <br />Mayor Meier moved, Councilman Luce seconded <br />that Resolution No. 32 - Statewide Lotto <br />Game be adopted. <br />Commented that he felt that the State Legis- <br />lature has taken the intent of the lottery, <br />and although within the law. misued the monE_~~,r <br />to replace old money rather than be additional <br />money. Nor was it to be spent on capital <br />buildings or whatever the legislators wanted <br />to sj?end it on. People passed and voted on the <br />lottery based on what was going to parks and <br />recreation. The thing that he found to be <br />
