10/16/84 Page -12-
If that whole area ends up being developed
either industrial/commercial because of an
interchange location, CTC's competitive ad-
vantage is gone. He reitereated that if
Louisville, Boulder County and everyone else
in the County apposes that interchange it is
not going to ga very far in the planning
process. It would appear to him that without
that interchange that land is not very valu-
able to anyone.
Mayor Meier Stated that a study session is scheduled for
the sales tax issue on Thursday and perhaps
Acting City Administrator Rupp could draft
a letter to the City of Broomfield stating
our concerns and he and Councilmembers could
review and comment on it at that time.
Councilman Luce Inquired, for clarification, is the land
currently shown in the comp plan as open
space? Mr. Rupp replied - north of the turn-
pike, yes; the south side is outside our plan-
ning area and has not been addressed. This
is consistent with what is shown in the Boulder
County Comp Plan. Also Mr. Rupp would suspect
that this land is outside the Broomfield Urban
Services Area as designated in Broomfield's
Comp Plan.
Mr. L"uce asked how the up-date of their Comp
Plan would be handled since the deadline for
up-dating the document has already been passed?
Mayor Meier stated that the land could be
annexed and then their request to up-date their
Comp Plan would be done at a later time be-
cause there would be no development until the
next plan amendment.
Mr. Luce would encourage Boulder County to
become interested in a formal sense because
he felt that there were 3 entities involved
and should be a part of the negotiations.
Councilman Leary felt that Lafayette would
have an interest in this also and felt that
a letter should be sent to them urging them
to become involved.
Letter to Be Sent to Mayor Meier moved, Councilman Leary seconded
Broomfield, Boulder County, that letters be sent to the City of Broomfield,
and Lafayette Expressing the City of Lafayette, and Boulder County ex-
~ur Concerns pressing our concerns with their proposed
annexation and urge the other entities to try
to participate in the discussion of problems.
