10/l~/84 <br />Page -13- <br />Mayor Meier suggested that at the Study <br />Session on Thursday evening Councilmembers <br />present their concerns so that these can <br />be incorporated in the letters. <br />Councilman Leary commented he felt that the <br />focus needed to be around the Boulder County <br />Comprehensive Plan and urban sprawl; also <br />what we are trying to accomplish through <br />that plan as they relate to quality of life; <br />and the need for intergovernmental trust and <br />adherence in this type of issue if we are <br />going to retain a good quality of life in <br />Boulder County. He further stated that Council <br />would oppose, i.n the regional planning pro- <br />cess, the extension of Broomfield's urban <br />service area, etc. Mr. Leary stated another <br />thing he felt needs to be emphasized is the <br />transportation impacts on US 36. He then <br />asked of Attorney Rautenstraus if this meeting <br />needed to be continued to finally approve the <br />letter? He replied that the official action <br />was being taken. this evening to send the <br />letter, unless Council would specifically <br />wish to vote on aspects of the letter. <br />Vote on the Motion All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />RECESS Mayor Meier called a recess at 8:55 P.M. <br />The meeting reconvened at 9:05 P.M. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT Counc:ilmembers had a copy of the ordinance; <br />ORDINANCE N0. 838 - OFFICE Attorney Rautenstraus read it by title only <br />ZONE - PUBLIC HEARING on second reading and continued public hearing; <br />also certified proper publication. <br />Mayor Meier opened the public hearing and <br />Attorney Rautenstraus certified proper publi- <br />cation of the public hearing notices. <br />Staff: presentation - Attorney Rautenstraus <br />advised that the Planning Commission did re- <br />view the ordinance. When the ordinance came <br />before Council on first reading the areas of <br />concern were the 3 acre limitation with re- <br />spect to parcels in the A-O zone; also the <br />limitations of the R-R-R zone as far as the <br />number of units that might be allowed. <br />The Flanning Commission in reviewing the 3 acre <br />limitation took the position that they believed <br />the 3 acre limitation or some type of limita- <br />tion might be appropriate.
