9/15/84 Page -17- <br />2DINANCE NO. 843 - WATER TAP Councilmembers had a copy of the ordinance; <br />FEE INCREASE - SET DATE FOR Attorney Rautenstraus read it by title only <br />PUBLIC HEARING on first reading and the request was for <br />publication and that a public hearing be <br />set. Attorney Rautenstraus stated that <br />the schedule was based on a 3% increase <br />in tap fees and he read the figures for <br />each of the tap size categories. <br />PUBLICATION AUTHORIZED - Mayor Meier moved, Councilman Fauson seconded <br />PUBLIC HEARING SET that Ordinance No. 843 - Water Tap Fee In- <br />crease be published and that a public hear- <br />ing be set for October 16, 1984. All in <br />favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 844 - ELECTRIC Councilmembers had a copy of the ordinance; <br />FENCES - SET DATE FOR PUBLIC Attorney Rautenstraus read it by title only <br />HEARING on first reading and the request was for <br />publication and that a public hearing be <br />set. <br />Mayor Meier commented he would like to <br />offer an amendment to the ordinance to <br />exempt electrical fences on agricultural <br />zoned land. <br />Attorney Rautenstraus advised the reason <br />the ordinance was written was because <br />a couple people constructed electrical <br />fences and the Chief Building Official <br />received some complaints of citizens. <br />Also in reviewing the matter he believes <br />that there is a definite safety problem. <br />When they are constructed people don't get <br />electrical permits and there can be a great <br />deal of danger. These fences were con- <br />structed in residential areas and there is <br />the danger of a child wandering into them. <br />Amendment to the Ordinance Mayor Meier moved .Councilman Luce seconded <br />that Ordinance No. 844 be amended to exclude <br />agriculturally zoned land for containment <br />of live stock. <br />At the suggestion of Councilman Luce, Attor- <br />ney Rautenstraus to review other zones <br />where electrical fences would be appropriate <br />i.e. industrial areas for security purposes. <br />Councilman Leary Expressed concern about how to define an <br />electrical fence as it would not probably <br />stop electric wires from being strung <br />
