Connie stated that the city has only subsidized housing. <br />Claudine mentioned that Selena was going to discuss with Joe Stevens or <br />Malcolm Fleming whether the Louisville Housing Authority could be used for <br />emergency housing and is researching the role of the Boulder County and <br />Louisville housing authorities. Walt said the Housing Committee has encouraged <br />Selena to talk with Malcolm Fleming. The Lydia Morgan and Regal Square <br />apartments are owned by the City of Louisville but managed by Boulder County. <br />Boulder County uses their rules in determining who is eligible. This is a problem <br />when Louisville residents need emergency housing. Claudine pointed out that <br />federal funding comes through the county, which gives them a financial stake. <br />Walt argued that Boulder County guidelines could be modified far Louisville. <br />Bab brought up that the Housing Committee is trying to obtain a list of low-cost <br />rentals in Louisville but it is difficult as people who occupy such housing are not <br />likely to be candid about its availability. Walt argued that Louisville's major <br />problem is available housing. People who can afford small rental apartments <br />can't find any. Claudine said that Selena is warking on a list, but it's complicated <br />as the lis# changes rapidly. Walt-we need the equivalent of Boulder's <br />Apartment Finder. Connie commended the Housing Committee for fitting their <br />wording about housing needs into the structure of the Comprehensive Plan. <br />Bob brought up that there's a group of people advocating for the Baptist Church <br />to become a cultural center, leaving the cottonwood tree area to be a public park. <br />If they the city) don't accept that, we can work on getting senior housing there. <br />Marlene Thompson has agreed to serve on the Housing Committee. <br />B. Social and Civiic Engagemen# <br />9. Programs----Carol Purfurst <br />As Linda was absent, Carol handed out the committee's proposed programs for <br />December 2008 through February 2009 and suggestions for March-May 2009. <br />Kathy Taylor, who plays with the Timberline Symphony, suggested their ballet <br />"Pinnochio" in Niwat in May. ether suggestions included punting the Platte <br />River, the zoo, Betchler Mansion, Fairplay, a train from Cripple Creek to Victor, <br />South Park. Linda Jackson's new drop-in "chitchat" program is in the Fail <br />newsletter. <br />2. Sunshine-Barbara Wilson <br />Barbara serrt out only two cards in the past two months, one of them to Barbara <br />P. <br />3, Intergenerational-Claire Floyd <br />The Fireside school improvement committee will meet August 20. Sheila Newton <br />and Paula Mayo are interested in volunteering, but the program has not been set <br />yet. Paula was a teacher for 20 years. The Senior Center's Fall newsletter <br />mentioned asked for volunteers for Coal Creek Elementary but this should have <br />been Fireside. Claudine stated that Louisville Middle School is looking for <br />
