SUBJECT: 2008 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 23, 2008 <br />The following issues were discussed during the scheduled meetings and open houses: <br />• Preservation of older buildings in downtown through incentives (LU-3.6) <br />• Inclusion of the Mixed Use Development Design Standards and Guidelines (LU-4.2) <br />• Inclusion of a Parking Structure on the west side of the railroad tracks (LU-4.2) <br />• Public trail connection between CTC and downtown (LU-4.3) <br />• Provision of uses complimentary to Avista Hospital, Monarch High School, and Conoco- <br />Philips, along West 88th Street (LU-4.4) <br />• Provision of vehicular connection between West 88th Street and West 96th Street (LU- <br />4.4) <br />• Inclusion of an interchange on US 36 at West 88th Street (LU4.4) <br />• Modifications within the Economic. Development (ED) chapter. <br />• Additional support for senior services and housing. <br />• Inclusion of a new chapter entitled "Sustainable Environment (SE)" to address <br />sustainable living. <br />• Inclusion of the following statement into Chapter 3; "Policy CS-3.2: The City, together <br />with the Louisville Fire Protection District, should encourage the use and cost <br />effectiveness of fire sprinklers in protecting life and property". <br />Planning Commission Action: <br />At this point the update has entered the formal public hearing process and specific <br />amendments are currently under consideration by the Planning Commission. A formal public <br />hearing was conducted before the Planning Commission on September 11, 2008. A second, <br />special meeting is scheduled with the Planning Commission for September 25, 2008. <br />Staff will bring the recommendations of the Planning Commission forward to the City Council in <br />October of 2008. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: The fiscal impact element of the 2008 Comprehensive Plan has been <br />reviewed and accepted by the Finance Director. The fiscal impact analysis model is being <br />modified to better reflect fiscal impacts of land uses on service sector departments. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): None <br />RECOMMENDATION: Discussion <br />
