In 1908, the Metzes sold the property to Alice Weber.
Alice Weber —10 years. The 1908 Sanborn map shows an undertaker business to have been
located in the building.
Beginning in 1912, property records show, the building was leased by Weber to Local Union
#1668 of the United Mine Workers. This occurred during the strike of 1910-1915 when the local
Union branch was very active in promoting the interests of the striking miners in the area.
Francesco Marcello Jacoe — 32 years. In 1918, Frank Jacoe acquired this property from Alice
Weber. (Frank Jacoe was a musician and amateur photographer, and brother to Eliseo Jacoe,
the owner of the Jacoe Store where the Historical Museum is located.) Jacoe's Pool Hall, which
also advertised soft drinks, was located in the building, as shown here:
During this period of ownership by Jacoe from 1918 to 1950, the building was also rented out
for various businesses and organizations. There is evidence that it was Stoiber's Pool Hall in the
1920s or 1930s. By the 1930s, the building was white (and possibly stucco) and was the
Louisville Liquor Store operated by Aldo and Josephine Negri, as seen here:
5
