John Stoker (1888-1970) and Nellie
Wykle (1887-1979) were both born in Kansas. They married in 1908. Records indicate that John
worked as a miner. Their son, Lester (1912-1983) served in World War II.
The following photo from a public family tree on Ancestry.com shows Nellie and John Stoker:
Louisville directories starting in the 1950s listed the Stokers as residing at 1309 Grant. After
John passed away in 1970, Nellie continued to live in the house.
Following the deaths of John and Nellie Stoker, their son, Lester Stoker, in 1983 transferred
ownership of the house to his children, Ronald Stoker and Carol Lee Balschke. They sold the
house in 1984.
3
