CRITERIA FOR DEMOLITION REVIEW:
The Historic Preservation Commission should review the demolition permit application
based upon any of the following criteria in Section 15.36.200(H) of the Louisville
Municipal Code:
CRITERIA
FINDINGS
1.
The eligibility of the
building for designation
as an individual
landmark consistent
with the purposes and
standards in this
chapter;
Significance
Social Significance - Exemplifies cultural, political,
economic or social heritage of the community.
From the 1870s through 1983, the property was
associated with agriculture in the Louisville area. The
Harper family owned the property through 1922, at
which point it was sold to the Hocheder family who
has retained ownership of the property through
present day.
Architectural Significance - Represents a built
environment of a group of people in an era of history
that is culturally significant to Louisville.
307 Eisenhower is a single story vernacular
bungalow with a low-pitched front -gable roof. It has
wide, unenclosed eave overhang, and originally had
a prominent full -width front porch (later enclosed)
covered by the main roof. The decorative triangular
knee braces under the gables on the facade and rear
elevation appear to be original. Window and door
placement as well as the footprint of the house
appears to remain unchanged.
Integrity
The house has integrity of location, design,
workmanship, and association. Integrity of setting and
feeling is compromised by the construction of the
Hunters Ridge subdivision.
Staff finds the property meets the criteria for
significance and architectural integrity.
The structure is currently not eligible for landmarking
because it is located outside of Old Town Louisville.
However, starting January 1, 2019, the property is
eligible based 2017 Ballot Issue 2F, which extended
the eligibility area City-wide.
