Board of Adjustment <br />Meeting Minutes <br />December 21, 2016 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />Residential Estate Zone District Maximum Lot Coverage requirement of 20% to allow <br />construction of a deck resulting in a lot coverage of 27%. Levinson seconds. Roll call <br />vote. Motion passes 5-1. Campbell votes nay, all other members vote yay. <br />Discussion Items: <br />➢ Election of Officers <br />DeJong informs the Board that he is moving to Lafayette but his house is not yet on the <br />market. <br />Ritchie states that staff would have to check with the City Attorney about having DeJong <br />on the Board as a non-resident once he sells his house. She adds that staff is still <br />waiting for applications to fill the vacancy on the Board. <br />Campbell says 20 years ago there was a board member who was a resident of Boulder. <br />Stuart asks if anyone wants to be the new chairperson. No one volunteers. <br />Ritchie offers that the election could be postponed. <br />Stuart requests that it be postponed until the new members feel they have more <br />experience. <br />Ritchie stated that code requires an election once a year. <br />Campbell makes a motion to reelect DeJong to the position of Chair. Levinson seconds. <br />Voice vote. Motion passes unanimously. <br />Stuart asks if anyone wanted to be Vice Chair. <br />Ewy volunteers. <br />Stuart makes a motion to elect Ewy as Vice Chair. Campbell seconds. Voice vote. <br />Motion passes unanimously. <br />Business Items tentatively scheduled for next meeting: <br />None heard. <br />Staff Comments: <br />Ritchie states that the Boulder Daily Camera ran a story recently about the RE zone <br />district. She informs the Board that staff is preparing for its phase of public outreach for <br />the Code update. <br />Ewy asks if the City is looking to change the underlying zoning. <br />Ritchie states that staff is contemplating keeping the underlying zoning, since setbacks <br />are probably appropriate and the rezoning process would be difficult.
