Three Boulder Daily Camera articles from 1977 and 1984, viewed recently at the Carnegie
Library for Local History, detailed the difficulties that Frank Hocheder faced as a farmer at that
time. These included the problems of declining wheat prices and the deterioration of the soil
after decades of farming. In 1981, the property went through a process with the City of
Louisville that included annexation to the City. In 1983, the three Hocheder children (Frank, Jr.,
Josephine and Flora) sold the 80-acre farm to Columbine Homes, Inc. On the same day,
Columbine Homes conveyed ownership of 307 Eisenhower back to Frank Hocheder, Jr.
Columbine announced its intention to construct 393 new housing units on the remainder of the
80 acres. This became the Hunters Ridge subdivision.
4
