Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
March 19, 2008

of Historic Places in 1986. As there have been no significant exterior alterations
since its listing in 1986 the site qualifies to be locally landmarked.

Staff recommends the approval of this landmark application.

Muckle asked for the applicant presentation. John Leary, 1116 LaFarge Avenue, spoke
about his desire that the home be preserved for many years to come. He added that the
preservation of the home is a monument to the Jannuccis and the history of Louisville.
He thanked the HPC for the opportunity to give something back to the community.

Leary noted that he had recently found the headstones for the Jannuccis and found
different spellings for the names as well as a different birthdate for Philomena.

Leary also reported that he had found many artifacts in the yard over the years including
a horse harness and bullets.

Muckle asked if there were any public comments. Seeing none she closed the public
hearing and opened it up to Commission questions and comments.

Whiteman asked Leary what happened to the macaroni machinery. Leary reported that
the previous owners removed it between when they put their offer on the house and
closed on it. He assumes it was sold for scrap metal.

HPC Action

Koertje thanked the applicant and noted that this was an easy decision as the site clearly
qualifies for landmarking. The home is already listed on the National Register of Historic
Places and that presumption qualifies it for local landmarking. He added that the home is
an example of the historic heritage of Louisville, has a great deal of architectural
integrity, and has the historic commercial aspect of the macaroni factory.

Tofte also thanked the applicant and moved to approve a resolution recommending
approval of the landmark application for the Jannucci House, 1116 Lafarge Avenue.
Whiteman seconded the motion.

Muckle asked that it be include in the record that this is one of the few remaining brick
homes in town.

Members voted unanimously to approve a resolution recommending approval of the
landmark application for the Jannucci House, 1116 Lafarge Avenue.

Main Street Program Presentation

Rick Kron of the Colorado Community Revitalization Association gave a presentation
regarding CCRA’s Main Street Program. He noted that Louisville already has an
approved Business Improvement District, so a taxing authority is already in place should
the community want to self-tax for downtown improvements.

Kron added that the goals of the Main Street program are to help downtowns with
economic restructuring, design guidelines, organization, and promotion.
