Max Scott and Cody Mitchell were sworn in, and presented the application for the Sam's Club 3.2% <br />Liquor License. Mr. Scott owns a company, Oedipus, Inc., which conducts opinion polls, primarily as <br />relates to liquor license applications. Mr. Mitchell is the store manager for the Louisville Sam's Club. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked Mr. Mitchell a series of questions with regards to the size of the store and the liquor and <br />tobacco policies established by Sam's Club. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked Mr. Mitchell about his background, working with Wal-Mart. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that he had been with Wal-Mart, operating a number of Sam's Club's for seven and <br />one-half years. Previous to coming to Louisville, he operated a Sam's Club in Anchorage, Alaska. <br />The Sam's Club in Anchorage had a Retail Liquor Store License. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked Mr. Mitchell if there were any liquor violations at the Anchorage Sam's Club. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that to his knowledge, there was not any liquor violations at any of the Sam's Club he <br />had worked. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked Mr. Mitchell about the Louisville Sam's Club, the square footage, the number of <br />employees, estimated busy store times, number of people they anticipated serving. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that the store is approximately 127,000 square feet and will employ between 160 and <br />180 people. On any given shit~ approximately 100 employees will be working. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked Mr. Mitchell to explain the procedure that a shopper would have to go through to shop <br />at Sam's Club. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that Sam's Club is a membership club, therefore a membership identification card <br />must be presented prior to entering. They then enter the store and shop at their leisure and purchase the <br />items they wish at the checkout counters, where they are required to present their Sam's Club <br />membership card. At[er they have made their purchases, they present their receipts at the door as they <br />exit the store. The shopper's card is checked at least two times. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell presented Sam's Club policy on Alcohol and Tobacco to the Authority and asked that it be <br />made a part of the record. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell explained that the cash register is designed to ask for a date of birth on all purchases of <br />Alcohol and Tobacco. The transaction will not continue until the cashier checks a picture I.D. and enters <br />a date of birth. The type of identification considered valid by Sam's Club is a driver's license, passport, <br />military I.D., and alien registration. Any violation of company policy will result in immediate termination, <br /> <br /> <br />
