and criminal prosecution. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell reviewed the training program for cashiers, which involves techniques of alcohol <br />management class. Training includes a pre-test, a video training program and a post-test, and <br />satisfactorily completing the training/testing program is mandatory. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked Mr. Mitchell to explain the process for purchasing 3.2% Beer at a Sam's Club. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell explained that the shopper must present a membership card at the front door before entering <br />the store. The shopper would then proceed to the location of the 3.2% Beer sales, select a beverage, <br />present his membership card and a photo identification card with a birthrate to purchase the beer. Upon <br />exiting the store, his receipt would be examined. Sam's Club stores sells in large quantities, so single <br />container items would be not sold. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked Mr. Mitchell the opening date for Sam's Club. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that the Grand Opening of Sam's Club is scheduled for Friday, February 12, 1999, <br />with a pre-opening test on Thursday, February 11, 1999, between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked what the total gross sales would be for the sale of 3.2% beer, compared to all other <br />items sold. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that it is estimated that .5 percent of the total sale would be for 3.2 % beer. This is <br />based on statistics from other Sam's Club stores. <br /> <br />Mr. Scott asked Mr. Mitchell if Sam's Club would send employees, who sell 3.2% beer, to training <br />programs offered through the City and Mr. Mitchell stated they would. <br /> <br />Chairperson Evans asked if any members of the Authority had questions of the applicant. <br /> <br />Evans asked what the annual estimated gross revenues for Sam's Club. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that Sam's Club has estimated gross annual revenues at approximately 65 million per <br />year. <br /> <br />Kimmett asked if the cashier has any option to override the cash register lock-up on tobacco and alcohol <br />purchases. <br /> <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that the cashier must enter a date of birth to continue the transaction. <br /> <br /> Sergeant Riggins asked how many cash registers will the new Sam's Club have. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mitchell stated that the total number of cash registers is 18. <br /> <br /> Attorney Light had a question on the floor plan, which illustrated a set of doors in the near vicinity of the <br /> beer case.
