LL tY.'t LOUISVILLE REVITALIZATION
Lausville COMMISSION
COLORADO -SINCE 1.878
SUBJECT: DISCUSSION- SIGNAGE AND WAYFINDING
DATE: NOVEMBER 10, 2020
PRESENTED BY: MEGAN E. PIERCE, ECONOMIC VITALITY DIRECTOR
SUMMARY:
There was consensus among the Committee members in October to pursue a new
program focus: Streetscape & Connectivity for Downtown. The potential program
components have been incorporated into a revised draft of the Work Plan.
DISCUSSION:
Based on the short timeframe between meetings, staff has not been able to gather
much new information on the suggested Phase I Wayfinding Signage project. However,
to provide more context for future discussions, staff is sharing information about the
existing City of Louisville Signage & Wayfinding Plan. A presentation of the final plan
from 2017 is included as Attachment #1.
Like most, Louisville's Signage & Wayfinding Plan was contemplated in phases. The
Location Plan included in the attachment represents Phase I for the City as a whole in
the dark colors. However, all of the signage designated within the Urban Renewal Area
(URA) boundaries is feasible for the LRC in its first phase. A future LRC phase can
consider what of the remaining signage program would integrate with the goal of
improving connectivity to the URA at the community gateways and other key areas. The
attached document also provides more context about the signage family itself —
including materials, size, and height. If the LRC has any questions about the signage
family, staff can attempt to address those in developing the scope of work.
It may be helpful for Commissioners to see the monument sign that was installed
following plan adoption. It is located at 104t" Street and Empire Road (near the FedEx
facility); a photo is also shown below.
Agenda Packet P. 8
