SUBJECT: COVID-19 CITY REOPENING AND RECOVERY
DATE: FEBRUARY 23, 2021 PAGE 10 OF 14
Community Park, Memory Square, Annette Brand and Cottonwood Park can be
rented by businesses/commercial entities to host outdoor, socially distanced
classes with 25 people or fewer.
In some cases, a park may be rented for a qualifying organized sports team event
(in conjunction with another City facility such as an athletic fields or Memory
Square Pool) in adherence to state and local organized sports and spectator
guidance.
Steinbaugh Pavilion —
Steinbaugh Pavilion is also available for scheduled event rental by businesses and
organizations.
• Businesses and organizations renting the facility must provide a COVID-19 event
plan that adheres to all local and state guidelines required by the COVID dial at the
time of the event.
• Rental approvals will be conditional based on where the City is on the COVID dial
on the date of the event.
• Steinbaugh Pavilion will continue to be available for use by groups of 10 or fewer
from no more than 2 households (through Level Blue) when a rental is not
scheduled.
Pavilion and Park rentals are not available for rental by individuals or families at this time.
All parks will continue to be available for other visitors and users, including drop -in use for
groups of 10 or fewer from no more than 2 households (through Level Blue).
Splash Pad at Community Park —
The City plans to open up the splash pad at Community Park beginning Memorial
weekend (tentatively). It will be open to a limited number of visitors at any given time,
under the capacity restrictions of the dial level at that time.
Special Events:
Touch a Truck —
The City's Touch a Truck event typically takes place in early June, in conjunction with the
Taste of Louisville. This year the Taste of Louisville will be an all-remote/online event. The
City is considering options for conducting the Touch a Truck event in a COVID-friendly
environment. Possibilities could include:
• A walk through event with "stations" of trucks that can be viewed but not climbed on or
touched. (Perhaps the event is called "See a Truck" in 2021.)
• Registration for a time -slot for each group/household.
• Limited numbers of total attendees at a given time, consistent with public health
guidelines (under 250 people in Level Blue, 500 people in Level Green)
• COVID plan for public health safety of staff, volunteers and visitors
CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
11
