Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />January 21, 2009 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />more visitors has been causing strain on other Museum services and <br />projects. <br />D. Activity Report <br />1. Bridget Bacon reported that in 2008, she did the research and wrote <br />reports for the Historic Preservation Commission for a total of ten <br />properties under review for demolition, with the Hecla Casino and <br />Bugdust Pool Hall reports involving the most research and time. <br />2. An anonymous donor has generously given $500 to be spent on building <br />and preserving the Museum's archives. <br />3. Forty people volunteered their efforts and time for the Museum in 2008 in <br />addition to Commission members. <br />4. A total of $34 was collected for City and state sales taxes on Commission <br />sales for the fourth quarter of 2008. <br />5. The Winter 2009 issue of The Louisville Historian is being prepared. <br />Thanks were given to Virginia Caranci for writing the Pioneer Award <br />presentation to Pat Seader, which will appear in the Historian. <br />6. A motion was made and carried to approve the expenditure of $600 for <br />the printing of the next issue of the Historian. Dustin Sagrillo is to obtain a <br />bid from an additional printing company so that a decision about future <br />printing can be made at an upcoming meeting. <br />XII. Committee Reports <br />A. Facility Management/Maintenance -Muth gave a review of projects relating to <br />the Museum campus. Replacement of the Jacoe Store steps is to be <br />completed by the City. Painting of the buildings is in the budget, and signage <br />may be part of the 2010 budget. $100,000 is in the City's 2009 budget for fire <br />detection/protection . <br />B. Community Education <br />1. The Commission approved a total of $100 for two honoraria for the <br />speakers at the oral history workshop in November. <br />2. Equipment needs for the oral history project will be discussed at the <br />February meeting. <br />3. Book Club -Anne Robinson reported that the next meeting of the Book <br />Club will be on February 4th and will be about pioneer diaries, letters, or <br />autobiographies; the topic for the March meeting is Boulder County <br />history; April, cookbooks and food; May, Arapaho Indians. <br />4. For the Spring historical program coming up in May, Bridget will check on <br />a possible speaker on the topic of Italians in Colorado. <br />C. Events & Fundraising <br />1. Parade of Lights Open House review -The City put up holiday lights on <br />the Jacoe Store and the new fence, and additional lights were put up by <br />the Commission. 180 people visited the Museum the night of the Parade <br />of Lights. The response to the new parade route was very favorable, as <br />the parade went past the Museum instead of ending just before reaching <br />it. Virginia Caranci stated that she is now donating the lights that the <br />Commission had been borrowing from her. <br />2. Holiday Home Tour review -Ticket prices were raised this year. 313 <br />tickets were sold. Total expenses for the Home Tour were $365. A motion <br />was made and carried to approve this expenditure. Funds raised came to <br />
