During normal work activities, Xcel Energy crews monitor the streets <br />looking for broken, burned out, or flickering lights. But crewmembers may not <br />come across all of them. Street light outages occur for a variety of reasons, including <br />electrical storms, vandalism, and normal wear and tear. <br />According to the police, street lighting helps improve public safety. And street <br />lighting can be an important part of the vitality and character of a community. <br />"We encourage our customers to report street light outages in their neighbor- <br />hood or community," said Jay Smith, Xcel Energy outdoor lighting manager. <br />"When customers notify us of a street light outage, it helps us get the problem fixed <br />and the power back on more quickly." <br />Street lighting services are included in a customer's monthly Xcel Energy bill. <br />Customers who would like to request additional street or alley lights in their neigh- <br />for guidelines and proce- <br />dures. <br />To report an outage, please go to www.xcelenergy.com/streetlighting or call <br />1.800.895.4999. <br /> <br /> <br />
