112 Cityt Im Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
MEMO
To: Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board
From: Megan Davis, Deputy City Manager
Subject: CC4CA Updates
Date: May 19, 2021
Office of the City Manager
In 2018 the City of Louisville became a member of CC4CA. CC4CA is a coalition of 28
local governments working to strengthen state and federal climate policy. CC4CA
represents local government and elected officials' unique perspective on climate
change, and the important role that local communities play in addressing these
challenges. CC4CA also recognizes that many local governments have their own
climate goals that cannot be effectively reached without state and federal policy
changes.
CC4CA operates as a consensus based organization, annually adopting a policy
position that helps guide its work. The Louisville City Council adopts the policy
statement each year. The organization has retained a state lobbyist to assist with
advancing the policy positions, and supporting the engagement of member communities
in legislative, administrative and regulatory processes that can benefit from local
government voices and perspectives. CC4CA educates members about current state
and federal conversations and decisions related to climate change, and coordinates
advocacy among its members.
Staff and City Council are invited to participate in any of the organizational meetings,
which include steering committee meetings, budget/policy and legislative committee
meetings. City Council has appointed Councilmember Fahey as the representative to
CC4CA. Annual membership dues are $5,000.
CC4CA Policy Statement:
The City signed on to the current 2020-2021 Policy Statement last June. The Policy
Statement provides strategic direction for the organization in its advocacy and lobbying
efforts, and is critical to ensure that the organization as a whole is representing the
interests of its member organization.
