04y`of 2022 Planning Commission <br />Louisville Supplemental Questions <br />COLORADO -SINCE 1878 <br />Applicant Name: David Blankinship <br />The Planning Commission is a quasi-judicial board that evaluates land use proposals against <br />municipal zoning regulations and makes recommendations to the City Council. <br />The Commission meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. <br />Terms are two years, four years, or six years. <br />You must be a resident of Louisville to serve. <br />1. Briefly explain your interest in serving on the Planning Commission. <br />I am a nine-year resident of Louisville and, as time has gone by, I have come to love <br />Louisville more and more and have searched for new ways to contribute to the <br />community. I have served as the Takoda HOA president in Steel Ranch for four years <br />and have also served on the open space advisory board (OSAB) for four years including <br />a year as vice chair. Serving on the planning commission could be a great next step for <br />me to help serve the community that has meant so much to me. I want us to make wise <br />decisions that help balance development, preservation, economic vitality, and small town <br />character in our wonderful pocket of Boulder County. To be clear, I am also applying for <br />reappointment to OSAB but my preference would be to accept an appointment to the <br />planning commission and therefore forgo my OSAB position. <br />2. What are your thoughts about the building and development you see in Louisville? <br />Louisville is an extremely livable small town in a great area of the country, but is of <br />course not immune to the challenges of growth. We have intelligent and well intentioned <br />people on both sides of the pro -growth and slow -growth camps and I have sat down to <br />discuss city-wide issues with a wide variety of people over my time as a city resident. I <br />don't believe that saying no to all future development makes sense, but I also realize that <br />there should be an appropriate time and place for such growth in order to preserve the <br />character of our community. As a Steel Ranch resident, I realize that I live in a community <br />that is a part of the building and development from the past decade and I want others to <br />have an opportunity to be a part of the city in well planned developments. Let's look for <br />opportunities to provide housing options at various price points in the market. Let's also <br />look for opportunities to add commercial space that helps us solidify our tax base and to <br />provide retail destinations and workplaces for area residents. <br />31 <br />
