Piccone and Tesone — Separate Ownership, 1906-1919; Date of Construction
In 1906, William Lee, who was the developer of the East Louisville subdivision, sold these two
lots to Antonio Piccone (1875-1952). It is not known whether he ever lived on the property.
In 1908, Felix Tesone (1870-1934) purchased the property at 1037 Walnut, and he owned it
until 1919. However, at the time of the 1910 census, he and his family are shown as living on
Jefferson Ave, not in this location. He sold the house in 1919.
The Boulder County website for this property gives 1920 as the date of construction. Typically,
the construction date information on the Boulder County website is drawn from the
handwritten Boulder County Assessor cards, which for Louisville were first completed in 1948.
However, in this case, the 1948 County Assessor card gives the date of construction of 1910,
not 1920. Because of this discrepancy and because Boulder County records are sometimes in
error with respect to the construction dates of historic buildings in Louisville, other evidence
must also be looked to. In this case, the 1909 Drumm's Wall Map of Louisville, shown above,
shows that at least part of the house had been constructed at that time. Also, the 1977 card
completed by the Boulder County Assessor noted that the original date of construction was
1910, with the "adjusted year" being 1920, as shown here:
ASV)DESIGN t ---.> i ‘.%
YEAR Bi1LT u 11' ,
ADJUSTED YEAR j
AO) ROOMS
AP) BEDROOMS 3
a01 RAT Hc 1 f
2
