City Council
Meeting Minutes
December 7, 2021
Leonard Sampson, 240 S. McCaslin Blvd., requested that Council allow the vote of the
residents to go forward.
R.J. Harrington, 457 East Raintree Court, stated his support of Ordinance Number 1819
repealing the original ordinance.
Matt Jones, 265 Dahlia Drive, requested Council vote for the repeal and not to refer it to
the voters.
Tamar Krantz, 690 West Street, (pooling time with Mike Putney), voiced her support for
the repeal.
Cyndi Bedell, 662 West Willow Street, stated her support for repealing the ordinance.
Brian Topping, 1550 White Violet Way, expressed his support of Ordinance 1819
repealing the approval.
Stephanie Rowe, 631 West Street, said she is not opposed to sending this out to a vote,
but asked Council to create rules for campaign finance if that happens.
Beth McQuie, 972 St Andrews Lane, spoke in support of repealing the ordinance.
David B., spoke in support of repealing the original ordinance.
Councilmember Dickenson thanked the public for their comments. In response to a
question from a resident, he was referring to the emails that Council has received when
he spoke earlier in the evening about hearing from both sides.
Councilmember Leh stated it was a long process to get to a decision and that process
was very public. There was no question that the application was vetted and the decision
that was reached was in a democratic decision. At this stage we have a decision. The
referendum process is important as citizens retain the right to challenge the decisions of
their officials. Council is not here to re -litigate the previous decision but to decide if this
should go to a special election or not. This will be divisive whether we go forward or not.
Councilmember Brown noted the vocal dissent in the previous decision and stated he will
be voting for repeal of the ordinance.
Mayor Stolzmann thanked for everyone for the thoughtful comments and reminded
Council that there does need to be a position tonight.
Councilmember Most commented that Council doesn't really know where the community
is and that pushes toward an election.
